Jealous for God
It isn't only evolution that robs God of His due credit for making so much beauty in nature, but Christmas too. In nature so much power, billions of critical details, interdependence, timing, colors, instincts, all orchestrated on this beautiful blue planet spinning with precise timing while orbiting a gigantic ball of nuclear fire serving earth as the entire solar system moves 230 km every second across the Milky Way Galaxy (which is 100,000 light years across) as the Milky Way itself races at more than twice that speed at 600km a second. God deserves more recognition.
I am jealous for Christ at Christmas. The music industry and naturally the retail business promotes everything about Christmas except Christ. If they did, it would be for the money. Yes, I'm a cynic.
Culture “Normal” without God
Culture is what is normal everyday living. Culture says it is not normal to include God in our everyday life. It's OK to include money, work, bosses, parents, and family in everyday living but God has to wait outside of everyday living. Culturally, we can meet him inside churches, or the religious can meet Him in the privacy of their homes.
I am provoked by my own curiosity, what a world would look like if everyone truly loved and served God, better than I currently love and serve God today? I am not talking about a church social where it might be tempting to speak God's name and say "God bless you" to advertise our spiritual status and eligibility to be in the church group, but genuine, God-confirmed sincerity.
Try to Imagine Just Once
Imagine, no one lying, flattering, having false motives. Imagine every CEO, politician, and industry, completely motivated by serving others and God. Every industry: food, medical, real estate, transportation, communication, construction, clothing, manufacturing, and entertainment 100% seeking enough profit to continue operating but never greedy or false.
What would technology be like finding solutions if no one was against competition but always had a sharing attitude?
No wonder Jesus prayed "Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
Curious What Light You Might Bring?
OK. I admit this is God's original vision before sin, to not be realized again until after resurrection. So, what are you curious about? Come on, with your imagination what is possible while you are alive in a cursed world abounding with sin? In this darkness, folks need the light so much more. Whatever good we can bring here and now is so especially treasured.
Courage to be Friendly
We are against the tide. It requires creative thinking but most of all courage. It seems silly that it could require courage for me to smile and say hello to a guy because he could ignore me intentionally. But when I smile and say good morning and a guy brightens his face and responds with a friendly "Good morning" back to me, it is a little thing, but a rewarding thing.
What godliness can we invade this darkness with, spawning some contagious virus of the Holy Spirit? Maybe a good deed is as good as a smile.
Secret Agents of Heaven
We are behind enemy lines once we decide to serve our heavenly Father but equipped from heaven with secret agents (angels), intel (Gods' Word), and manipulated circumstances from Headquarters (the kingdom) to encourage us, to guide us, to protect us, to provide for whatever we need for today's mission.
Nobody but God Can Do Such Great Stuff
It is all above me, just like nature is beyond comprehension, but tangibly here to plainly behold.
No one can make a person, yet here we are; billions of us. No one can make a tree, but you can touch it.
No one made me. My parents did not invent and design me. An incredible system of reproduction involving fascinating development leading to my birth at predictably 9 months after stem cells started building me. This alone is worthy of 100 Nobel Prizes, but God usually doesn't get credit.
Curious-Creative-Courageous
Let curiosity trigger your imagination about a world that would give fair credit to God for everything He has done. It’s a real desire of God.
Can you be creative inventing new ways to think considering what God has imagined for mankind? What can we bring in our day, in our little space?
Can we be courageous enough to not simply answer culture's call about our potential, but instead, listen to God's call about seeking Him daily? How would this change everything in our life?
Creator Sent to the Speck, Called Rebellious Earth
I don't know how many millions or billions of beings with a free will live in the entire universe beyond earth, but I know all things were made through and for Jesus, and for Him to come here and die for our sins to bring us back to a relationship with God has to be the biggest thing in the history of the universe. This alone makes earth important compared to infinite galaxies.
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16
Merry Christmas - Be Curious, be creative, be courageous.
Dear Sam,
I completely agree with your perspective on the importance of giving credit to God for His incredible creation and the need to live our lives in a way that reflects His love and glory. It is inspiring to think about what the world would be like if everyone truly loved and served God with sincere hearts.
In my life, I will strive to be more curious about God's plans for me, to be creative in finding ways to glorify Him in all that I do, and to have the courage to stand against the tide of culture and live according to His will. I want to be a secret agent of heaven, spreading light and love wherever I go.
